Another Evening At Legends of Rock

Besides tracking cores at Tavant in the recent past, I have managed to keep some time (actually more than enough) for beer and music at LOR (::Legends of Rock). Tuesday, Jan 23 was one such night when my technical lead, Zabil, was playing at Legends of Rock. And with Zabil (Rhythm Guitar) were also playing Mike (Lead Guitar), Babu (Drums) and Hari (Bass) accompanied by Deepak (Vocals). The band is called Altered Scales.

The band simply rocked, and rocked and rocked! You could find some sore hands in the crowd after continuous clapping for their amazing performance. Will it be appropriate or inappropriate to call the performance an asskicker? Highlights of the performance were Mike and Babu with some high quality solos, though that doesn't take anything away from the other band members who were great too. Most of the bands that I have seen performing at LOR have been good but why Altered Scales stands out is because of their awesome self-compositions.

The following is a list of songs that the band performed that night:

N.I.B - Black Sabbath
Paranoid - Black Sabbath
Breaking the Law - Judas Priest
Living After Midnight - Judas Priest
Black Night - Deep Purple
Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf
Wicker Man - Iron Maiden
Tough Times - Altered Scales
It's time - Altered Scales
Raga in Blues - Altered Scales (Instrumental)
Run - Altered Scales (Instrumental)

Since their first major performance, Strawberry Fields (the NLS fest rock extravaganza), the band has come a long way and the popularity has been scaling new heights! Thanks to Kingfisher draught beer (and that too in the esteemed company of Hari/Pari/Priyank & Old Monk Lady - Ruchira), I could appreciate their latest performance at LOR much more than the previous ones. But then this time the band performed a lot more songs (as compared to the previous performance that had time restrictions), covered some of my favourite bands and ended with some nice self compositions.

I hope Zabil invites me to their next performance soon and gives my name as one of the band members to the organizers (at LOR these people got free booze!!!).
